"4.48
PSYCHOSE"
Presentation of the Author
British playwright born the 3rd february of 1971 in Essex, she studied the theater at the university of Bristol, in which she has been brilliantly graduate, then at the university of Birmingham. Her plays sparked off a scandal toward the royal court theater, with "Blasted" ("Aneantis"), that dealed in a blunt and surprising way the current violence in the world... Sarah KANE had some success immediately, and was very often at the first pages of th british newspapers. The majority of the critics were negative. The rumour has even said that the censorship could be back in England. She is the author of "Phaedra's love" and of "Crave" that she says: "i just wanted to discover how a poem could really be theatral. That is really an experience on the form, on the language, on the rythmand on the music..." and of "4:48 Psychosis" where she is really involved in.The title refers to 4h48 a.m, hour when she wakes up and her despair is the strongest.
Sarah KANE committed a suicide the 20th 1999, she was 28 years old ( hanging her up with her lace in the toilets of a hospital)... one year before the parution of 4:48 Psychosis in 1999 in a posthumous way. Since a few years, several critics say that she was badly criticized and her plays know a new passion.
Like a lot of people, we all have been confronted to a drama in our lives: the disparition of an important person... and more particulary for us, the suicide of good friend during her youth...At the time of a sudden death, and moreover volontary, of someone that we love, we are crushed and our reaction can be without sense towards the lack of understanding in which we are...Our anger was so strong that her disparition has been felt as a kind of betrayal, of abandonment that we were not able to assume. We have forgotten her , banned of our spirits until our meeting with the plays of Sarah Kane.
Sarah KANE puts us in front of the reality that we often-the most of time-lot of problem to accept:"the suicide".Our goal, playing "4:48 Pychosis", is to share our suffering with a lot of families who did not have the chance to get the stories, even posthumous, of those they loved...Being aware of the drift in the adversity in which they are confronted and not to disclaim their deads... and life continues...anyway...

Hommage à MATHILDE
It is true that today i can forgive... to forgive you??? That
is
my egoist side that goes back... But what is my forgiveness
towards you lived? So what should i must say... That is true that today i am able to understand... That is not an egoist judgement but an understanding full of respect that everyone should have when someone we love disappears suddenly instead of judging them. That i had to feel, instead of telling you, you were egoist and a depressive stupid...To put the responsability on the other, when we ourselves do not forgive us your disparition...We regret because self-styled " a friend should see the paint of the other", so fucking stupids!!! In short... Recently Anatole has seen your Dad, they should have dinner soon at home.I think that they share the pleasure to meet them together and to think about you... That is true that i have never met who committed a suicide to to get to you...I would like that to greet her for me. Our Mathilde, thanks to Sarah Kane i can today use my tears to write...To claim my regret -our regret- and the sadness of all: your family - your father and your brother - Anatole- and the ABATE and BRET families, and all our friends... In the name of them i would like to tell you that we are sorry not to be with you during the paintful moment that eroded you... Sorry... If you meet Sarah greet her and thank her for her scripts in order to make stop the bleeding of our hearts...To open more and more our eyes on the people around us and that we protect themselves, listen themselves...That is in this way that we appreciate life... thank you Sarah Kane Nina KIBUANDA | ![]() Mathilde
